Diego Petrella
Winner of several national and international competitions (Ettore Pozzoli Competition 2021, XXIV Musical Performance Competition of Società Umanitaria, Milan Conservatory Prize 2019), Diego Petrella is active as a soloist and in chamber music, performing in prestigious venues across Italy.
Thanks to Sylvano Bussotti’s work, he became acquainted with the Fluxus movement, developing a sensitivity for spontaneity and indeterminacy. With the mdi ensemble, he recorded the music for RARA (film) by Bussotti, curated and published by the Cineteca di Bologna. This experience left a profound mark on him, inspiring a lasting connection to Bussotti’s irreverent gestural theater.
He is actively involved in contemporary repertoire as a member of AGON Acustica Informatica Musica and Icarus vs Muzak – an ensemble born from the legacy of the historic Icarus Ensemble.
In 2023, he is artist-in-residence for NoMus association.
Introduced to piano practice by Michele Fedrigotti, he graduated with honors from the Milan Conservatory, where he studied under Cristina Frosini and Davide Cabassi.
